Description
After going through the Imjinwaeran War and Byeonjahoran War, the fortress was constructed as an inner fortress in the 18th year of the reign of King Injo (1640), as well as the outer fortress in the 26th year of the reign of King Sukjong (1700) and the middle fortress in the 17th year of the reign of King Yeongjo (1741). The fortress consisted of 5 gates, 15 hidden gates, 9 wells, and 4 ponds. Currently, the outer fortress is best preserved, while the fortress reflects the architectural techniques according to the different segments of the Joseon period. It was designated as Historic Site No. 216 in 1971.
