Article 13 (1) of the Automobile Management Act, Article 31 (1) of the Automobile Registration Decree, and Article 37 of the Automobile Registration Rules

Outline

Under this procedure, when a change is made to the information on the vehicle registration register, such change must be indicated on the registration register.

Voluntary registration cancellation shall be made by visiting and applying for car scrapping, in the case of car theft, export, loss, or over-age, etc. Forced cancellation by the authorities shall be made in the event of a business license cancellation or unattended vehicle to ensure public safety operation.
Cancellation registration of scrapped vehicles is allowed online via the Internet Civil Service (http://www.ecar.go.kr) (but this must be applied for within 30 days from the date of car scrapping).
